What Saturdays Are For...

Image
My kitchen is being painted today, so I decided it would be a good idea to get my kids out of the house.  I took the lot of them out to an art fair.  Seven year olds do so enjoy perusing stalls and stalls of handmade crafts after all.  There was also a stall promoting our local animal shelter, and Lili just about wet her pants when she was presented with the opportunity to poke fourteen different dogs and cats with her little index finger whilst woofing and meowing appropriately.  Emma decorated a pair of sunglasses at the children's craft area while Sophia created a color-changing bead bracelet, and Lili dumped an entire bag of pony beads on the grass.  Check, please. Once I had invested five dollars in a large cup of "freshly squeezed" lemonade, we decided we had done enough damage at the art fair.  We could all tell that our one-year-old was gearing up for a most impressive hissy fit, so we let her push her own stroller right out to the car, and we loa...

Relax. It's the Weekend, Baby!

Relax, baby!  Take a luxurious bath.  If someone is already in the tub, convince him to let you join in the fun... "Hey Dad, do you think I could get in on this??" If he seems unaccomodating, just climb right on in anyway... "Alley-oop!  Here I come!!" Once you're in there, let the good times commence... "Would you mind scrubbing my back with that loofa, please?" Splash about for good measure... "Don't get too close unless you want a shower." Finally just let yourself go, and enjoy the moment... "I swear those bubbles are coming from the jacuzzi jets."

The Skinny (Addendum)

As I type, I am listening to the sounds of three giggling little girls rolling around in the floor of our office.  The littlest Carson is producing some particularly exuberant belly laughs.  Weekends are great. I realized that in my last family update, I excluded the feline member of our family.  Emily, the cat, is in hog heaven up here.  Although she is supposed to be an indoor cat, she is having none of that.  The call of the forest and of all God's critters is too loud for her to ignore.  She seems to love the sunshine and trees as much as I do.  She has also enjoyed murdering several little woodland creatures and offering them up to us on our back deck as tokens of her unfailing affection.  I guess you can take the cat out of McCleansville, but you can't get that rural, country-lovin' moxie out of the cat. Additionally, for your viewing pleasure, here is a new candid photo of Baby Lil enjoying her dinner of black b...

Because It Needed Doin'

We girls made up a lovely little picnic and headed out to the green at lunchtime today.  This was followed by some frisbee throwing with a friendly dog and a few rousing hands of Go Fish!  I love Saturday and sunshine.  Happy Weekend! p.s. Kool-Aid is gross now that I'm a grown up.
